S.O.A.R. is a free group program for our waitlist mentees to engage in while waiting for a 1:1 match. We are continuing to expand the activities that young people have the opportunity to experience, however, the costs of doing these activities are increasing and without funding, we are not able to offer these activities at no cost to the young people.

By raising $15,000 this month, we will have the funds to guarantee each young person on our waitlist has the opportunity to participate in the activities offered with no concerns of financial barriers or restrictions. That equates to $100/young person on our waitlist and ensures the costs to participate in activities like horseback riding, karate, dance, yoga, painting, and so on, are covered with absolutely no financial responsibility to our mentees and their families.

S.O.A.R. isn’t just about passing the time; it’s about embracing the journey and making the most of every moment. Our mentors and mentees come together in a supportive environment while striving to build positive, developmental relationships, and to focus on social integration, communication skills, engaging in new experiences, and skill building.

Young people who graduate from our programs see measurable outcomes in Social Emotional Competence, Mental Health & Wellbeing, and Educational Engagement & Employment Readiness.ย  We know that when we Ignite Potential, there is a BIG Impact, creating a brighter future for our community!

Join us as we soar to new heights, one activity at a time.

S.O.A.R. (Social Opportunities Activities Relationships)

The S.O.A.R. Program is a group program for our waitlist young people to engage in while they are waiting for a 1:1 match.

Groups are created for different age groups โ€“ youth 12 and under, or youth 13+.

Mentors are screened and trained before leading a group, and then participate in pre-planned activities in the community with their mentees. Activities can include but are not limited to recreational activities (dance, martial arts, horseback riding, hiking,), culinary activities, or arts/cultural activities (crafts, painting, museum tours, improv comedy).

The S.O.A.R. Program runs for a couple of hours in the evening, once a week, for 8-12 weeks.

The weekly connection allows the mentors and youth to engage in a variety of activities together while striving to build positive, developmental relationships and to focus on social integration, communication skills, engaging in new experiences, and skill building.
