Big Brothers Big Sisters surpassed their fundraising goal, bringing in over $116,000 at their annual Big Night Out Charity Ball Halloween Bash held Saturday, October 21st at the Oxford Auditorium in Woodstock!

With over 400 guests in attendance, the Halloween Bash displayed some incredible creativity in costumes once again! From the Spice Girls to the Crazy Cat Lady and her cats, The Griswold’s Christmas Vacation, Tom Hanks movie characters, Costco Sampler employees, Yellowstone, Skittles, Minions, and spanning the decades (to name just a few), attendees were decked out and ready to have fun in support of BBBSOC.

Congrats to our Costume Contest winners, Pamela Pilon Szala with an amazing “Dementor of Harry Potter” costume, and the TD Bank Group who came as Costco Sampler Employees and their outfits (including actual samples) were on-point (photos attached).

The funds raised directly support the 11 mentoring programs offered through Big Brothers Big Sisters in Oxford County. The agency has seen an over 200% increase in mentee applications over the past year, pressuring the need for support in all our programs.  As an agency that does not receive ongoing government funding, events like Big Night Out Charity Ball are critical in ensuring we can continue to offer our programs at no cost to young people and their families in Oxford County.  Our current waitlist is sitting at approximately 160 youth, and though our interest and addition of new volunteer mentors is continuing to be successful, the enrollment of young people into our programs is increasing at rates never seen before in the post-pandemic era.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank our Presenting Sponsor Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada; as well as all our sponsors, donors, supporters and volunteers for their amazing generosity, friendship and dedication to supporting mentorship in Oxford County.

Together, we are igniting the power and potential of youth in our community!
