Big Night Out Surpasses $130,000 Fundraising Goal!
It was not only a spook-tacular night ‘Under The Big Top,’ at Big brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County’s Big Night Out Charity Ball, Halloween Bash, it was a HUGE success thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors and community members.
Over 500 guests gathered at the Oxford Auditorium Saturday, October 18 for BBBS Oxford’s annual fundraising event. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume for the Halloween-themed evening, and again this year they did not disappoint. From Minions, to “The Goonies,” princesses, wrestlers, circus and carnival characters, hippies, disco, the Addams Family and even “Silence of the Lambs,” the hall packed with elaborate, unique and interesting costumes. This year’s Costume Contest winners included Marie Antoinette for Individual Costume, Queen Elizabeth & Winston Churchill for Couples, and 50 Years of SNL for Group.
By the end of the evening, the event had already surpassed our $130,000 fundraising goal. Part of the fundraising efforts includes an online auction for a furnace with installation courtesy of Select Heating & Cooling, which closed October 21. After the auction and other final funds that continue to come in, the event will have grossed over $137,000.
“Every dollar raised through Big Night Out directly fuels our mentoring programs that help young people across Oxford County build confidence, resilience, and hope for their future,” says BBBS Oxford Executive Director, Kristen Ralph. “These funds ensure that children and youth have access to caring mentors and life-changing opportunities, something that wouldn’t be possible without our generous community.”
The evening included a buffet dinner catered by Beres in Tillsonburg, silent auction, raffles and dance with late lunch provided by Boston Pizza Woodstock.
“We’re already looking ahead to next year’s Big Night Out, and we can’t wait to bring the community together again. Whether you join us as a sponsor, donor, or guest, your involvement makes a real difference. Events like this show what’s possible when Oxford County comes together to support local kids.”
During the evening’s presentation, we shared a video produced by Power Web Media featuring former mentees telling their stories of how mentorship has influenced their lives; the video can viewed on BBBS Oxford’s YouTube Channel at https://youtu.be/86AtIeqmmJA.
