New Years Message from Executive Director, Kristen Ralph

As we come to the end of the year, I find myself feeling incredibly grateful for the people, businesses, and supporters who make our community what it is.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we have seen firsthand how much this year has asked of families. Rising costs and employment pressures have increased the need for support, and we have received more requests from young people and caregivers looking for connection, stability, and a caring adult in their corner. The need has been real, and at times, heavy.

And in the middle of that, I have watched something else happen. People have stepped up.

I want to acknowledge our staff, a team that has consistently gone above and beyond. They have met change with determination, and they have supported young people with compassion and professionalism, often working beyond their capacity because they care so deeply about the kids and families we serve. I am profoundly thankful for them.

I also want to thank our volunteers, donors, and local businesses. Even when things feel tight, when time, money, and energy are stretched, you still found ways to help. Whether you gave financially, raised awareness, sponsored an initiative, volunteered your time, or simply encouraged someone to get involved, you made a real difference.

One of the most meaningful things I have witnessed this year is how our community can come together when it matters most. I have seen people set differences aside, show up for one another, and focus on what truly counts. Strengthening the place we live and supporting those who need it most. When that happens, a community does not just feel kinder. It becomes stronger.

As we head into the New Year, my hope is that we keep carrying that spirit forward. In the year ahead, we are committed to growing mentoring opportunities so fewer young people have to wait for the support they deserve. If you have been thinking about volunteering, becoming a mentor, partnering as a business, or making a gift, we would love to hear from you. Every act of support helps create brighter futures, one relationship at a time.

From all of us at Big Brothers Big Sisters, thank you for being part of this work and this mission. Wishing you a New Year filled with health, connection, and a renewed sense of hope, and with a community that continues to rise together.

With gratitude,
Kristen Ralph
